Multimedia is media and content that utilizes a combination of different content forms. The term can be used as a noun (a medium with multiple content forms) or as an adjective describing a medium as having multiple content forms.The term is used in contrast to media which only utilize traditional forms of printed or hand-produced text and still graphics.

Real Player (briefly known also as Real One Player) is a cross-platform media player by Real Networks that plays a number of multimedia formats including MP3, MPEG-4, QuickTime, Windows Media, and multiple versions of proprietary Real Audio and Real Video formats.The first version of Real Player was introduced in April 1995 as Real Audio Player, one of the first media players capable of streaming media over the Internet.

Winamp is a proprietary media player written by Nullsoft, now a subsidiary of Time Warner. Current Winamp development is credited to Ben Allison (benski), Will Fisher, Taber Buhl, Maksim Tyrtyshny, Chris Edwards and Stephen (Tag) Loomis.Winamp grew from 33 million users in February 2005 to over 57 million users in September 2006.Its windowless menubar-only interface showed only play (open), stop, pause, and unpause functions. A file specified on the command line or dropped onto its icon would be played.

The KMPlayer is a video and audio player for Microsoft Windows which can play a large number of formats such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg, OGM, 3GP, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, FLV and QuickTime among others. It handles a wide range of subtitles and allows one to capture audio, video, and screenshots.The player provides both internal and external filters with a fully controlled environment in terms of connections to other splitters, decoders, audio/video transform filters and renderers without grappling with the DirectShow merit system.
